John Verity is a British blues rock and rock musician from Bradford, United Kingdom, born in 1949. He plays and records with the John Verity Band and has also been associated with Argent and The Crowd.
Career
Verity is a member of Argent from 1973 to 1976. After Argent splits, he forms Phoenix with former Argent bandmates Bob Henrit and Jim Rodford. Phoenix records three albums for CBS Records and tours Europe before the group disbands.
After Rodford joins the Kinks, Verity and Henrit join Charlie and record an album for RCA Records. Verity produces the Phoenix albums, the Charlie album and Saxon's first album.
Work with Brian Connolly
In the early 1980s, Verity works with Brian Connolly, formerly of Sweet, in an attempt to launch him as a solo artist. A Carrere Records single, "Hypnotised", appears in 1982, produced by Verity and written by Joe Lynn Turner. Verity also plays in Connolly's backing band, Encore, which supports Pat Benatar at the start of 1983.
John Verity Band
The line-up of Encore forms the basis of Verity's own band, which records several albums including Interrupted Journey. He regularly performs with the band in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, and also plays acoustic duo shows with either Max Milligan or Mark Griffiths. The usual line-up includes Bob Henrit on drums and Mark Griffiths on bass.
