John McCusker

John McCusker is a Scottish folk musician from Bellshill, Scotland. Born in 1973, he works as an instrumental player, composer and producer within traditional music.

He turns professional at the age of seventeen and becomes a noted figure in Scottish folk. McCusker is a member of the Battlefield Band and tours with them for 11 years, becoming an important part of the group’s sound. He is also a member of the Radio Sweethearts, the Transatlantic Session Band, and the trio McGoldrick, McCusker, Drever.

Alongside performing, McCusker produces folk recordings that sell strongly and appears as a guest with major live and recording artists. He is also known for composing melodies that are performed internationally, with his work rooted in the traditional music of Scotland.
