John Doe

John Doe is the stage name of John Nommensen Duchac, born in Decatur, Illinois. He is the founder of the Los Angeles punk band X, which is produced and managed by Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek. His work extends beyond punk into country, folk and Americana.

Career

Doe also performs with The Knitters, a country-folk-punk group, and forms John Doe and the Sadies in 2009. In the early 1980s he appears on two albums by fellow Los Angeles punk band The Flesh Eaters, alongside members of The Blasters, punk poet Chris D., and future X bandmate D.J. Bonebrake.

Screen work

Alongside his music career, Doe works as a film and television actor. He plays Jeff Parker in the television series Roswell and appears in films including Road House, Roadside Prophets, Salvador, Great Balls of Fire!, Boogie Nights, The Specials, The Good Girl and Pure Country. He also appears in music videos for The Doors’ “LA Woman” and The Ramones’ “Something To Believe In” with the other members of X.
