Joel Mull
Joel Mull is a techno and electronic music artist from Stockholm, Sweden. Born in 1975, he begins music training early, receiving his first synthesiser at the age of six and taking piano lessons soon afterwards. From the age of ten to sixteen he attends music school in Stockholm, where he spends much of his time playing keyboards and singing.
He develops an interest in electronic music through Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode. In 1991, after hearing techno at an outdoor rave in Stockholm, he focuses on the style and starts buying house and techno records from local record shops. At school he meets Adam Beyer, who teaches him to mix and play records using a pair of Technics 1210 turntables.
In 1993 he buys an Ensoniq sampler and his own DJ equipment, moving more firmly into electronic production and performance. He decides to pursue DJ work full time in 1995. His releases appear on a range of labels, and he later sets up Inside Records in 1998 to release his own music from his Stockholm studio. He also releases on the labels Inside and Läsk.
As a DJ and live act, Mull performs in countries around the world. He works with Adam Beyer as Safety Session.
