Joan Shelley

Joan Shelley is an American singer-songwriter from Louisville, Kentucky. Her work sits in folk, Americana, country and folk rock, and her voice is described as drawing on both old-time country and 1960s folk.

She works both as a solo artist and in collaboration with other musicians from her area. Among those collaborations are Daniel Martin Moore and Joe Manning: with Moore, she issues Farthest Field; with Manning, she issues Outside Stay Outside. She also performs with the trio Maiden Radio, alongside Julia Purcell and Cheyenne Mize.

As a solo artist, Shelley releases her debut album Ginko, then follows it with Electric Ursa on No Quarter and Over and Even. Her output is associated with a prolific live presence and a songwriting style rooted in acoustic folk traditions.
