Jo Brand is a British comedian, writer and actress from Clapham. Born in 1957, she begins her entertainment career after moving from psychiatric nursing into the alternative comedy stand-up scene. She appears in early performances on Saturday Live and later works on television in programmes including The Brain Drain, Channel 4’s Jo Brand Through the Cakehole and Getting On.

She also makes numerous television appearances as a regular guest on QI and Have I Got News for You. Her work places her within British stand-up and television comedy, and she is also associated with the “Just a Minute” team.
