Jlin is the recording name of Jerrilynn Patton, an American electronic musician from Gary, Indiana. She is associated with footwork and juke, with her work also drawing on IDM.

Patton grows up in Gary, near Chicago, after being originally from Decatur, Georgia. Her productions use only her own original material; she previously uses samples but later stops working that way. She remains based in Gary.

Releases

Jlin’s debut album, Dark Energy, appears on Planet Mu and receives critical acclaim. It is named the best album of 2015 by The Wire and The Quietus. Her second studio album, Black Origami, also appears on Planet Mu and includes collaborations with William Basinski and Holly Herndon.
