Jive Bunny
Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers are a novelty pop group from London, United Kingdom, active from 1988 to the present. They work in pop, rock and rock and roll, and are best known for a run of UK chart success in 1989, when their first three singles all reach number one.
Chart success
The group becomes the third act to have its first three releases go to number one on the UK singles chart, following Gerry and the Pacemakers and Frankie Goes to Hollywood. This run takes place between July and December 1989. The three singles are “Swing the Mood”, “That’s What I Like” and “Let’s Party”.
Style and recordings
Jive Bunny’s hits use sampling and synthesizers to combine material from early rock and roll into medleys. Their approach is similar in concept to the earlier Stars on 45, although that act recreates the music with sound-alike singers and musicians rather than sampling the original recordings.
International reach
The group also reaches number one in several other countries, though not in the United States.
