Jinjer

Jinjer is a Ukrainian metal band from Donetsk. The group forms in 2009, but it treats 2010 as its official formation year after Tatiana Shmailyuk replaces Maksym Fatullaiev on vocals and Roman Ibramkhalilov joins on lead guitar.

Style and influences

The band is associated with metalcore, progressive metal, groove metal and alternative metal. Its influences include Guano Apes, Slayer, Death, Pantera, Anathema, Lamb of God, Gojira and Twelve Foot Ninja. The group also cites Opeth, Karnivool and Textures, alongside artists from R&B, soul, funk, jazz, reggae and hip-hop, including Cypress Hill and House of Pain.

Releases

Jinjer releases three EPs and five studio albums. The EPs are Objects in Mirror Are Closer, Inhale, Do Not Breathe and Micro. The studio albums are Cloud Factory, King of Everything, Macro, Wallflowers and Duél. The live album Alive in Melbourne appears in 2020.

The band records Wallflowers at Kaska Record Studios in Kyiv, and the album is released in 2021. Duél follows in 2025.

Line-up

The current line-up consists of Tatiana Shmailyuk on vocals, Roman Ibramkhalilov on guitar, Eugene Abdukhanov on bass, and Vladislav Ulasevich on drums.

Former members include Maksym Fatullaiev on vocals, Vyacheslav Okhrimenko, Oleksandr Koziychuk, Yevhen Mantulin and Dmitriy Kim on drums, and Dmitriy Oksen on guitar.

Activity

In 2022, Jinjer pauses its career to focus on relief efforts in Ukraine after Russia invades the country. The band later receives permission from the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture to leave Ukraine and tour as ambassadors of the nation.
