Jimeoin
Jimeoin is a stand-up comedian born in 1966, with an origin listed as Royal Leamington Spa, Australia. He develops a career built around observational comedy, with material focused on the absurdities of everyday life and a style that connects strongly with Australian audiences.
Stand-up and touring
He appears regularly at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Adelaide Fringe Festival, and he tours widely in Australia. His live work also takes him to New Zealand, Europe, the UK, the Middle East, the Far East and Canada, including the Montreal Festival. He is a regular at the Edinburgh Festival, where he receives a Critics Award in 1994.
Television
Jimeoin becomes a familiar face on Australian television through appearances on variety and comedy programmes. His self-titled series, Jimeoin, airs on the Seven Network for three series during 1994 and 1995. He also makes guest appearances on The Des O’Connor Show in the UK and on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in the United States. In 2001, he presents a one-hour travel documentary about Ireland, and he hosts two one-hour documentaries on the 2001 Just for Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival, both broadcast on Network Ten.
Film and recordings
In 1999, he writes and stars in The Craic, his first feature film, released by Village Roadshow. The film has a strong opening weekend in Australian box office terms and is later released on video and DVD in western-speaking countries, including Ireland. In 2005, he releases a second feature film, The Extra, a romantic comedy made with Macquarie Films and Hoyts. He writes and stars in that film as well, alongside Rhys Muldoon, Bob Franklin, Shaun Micallef and Kristy Hinze.
He also produces three CDs, Goin Off, The Craic and Forklift Truck, as well as the live video/DVD All Over the Shop, filmed in Dublin, and the Third Drawer Down DVD.
Personal details
He is married to Catherine Arena and has two children, a daughter, Rose, and a son, Mario. He is also described as a keen fisherman and golfer.
