Jim White

Jim White is a US alternative country and Americana artist from California, born in 1957. He works as a Southern Gothic singer-songwriter and has released seven albums as a solo artist.

His music is rooted in Americana but also draws on rock, rhythm and blues, and electronica. He often builds songs in a lo-fi cut-and-paste style associated with artists such as Tom Waits.

His recordings feature a wide range of collaborators, including Victoria Williams, Morcheeba, Aimee Mann, Barenaked Ladies, and Joe Henry. He is signed to David Byrne’s Luaka Bop label.

White also appears in the BBC documentary Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus, which focuses on musicians shaped by the culture of the American South.
