Jim Lauderdale

Jim Lauderdale is a singer-songwriter from Troutman, United States, associated with country, americana, bluegrass and folk. He is based around Nashville and is known as a performer in the city’s showband tradition, as well as for his songwriting.

His songs are recorded by artists including the Dixie Chicks, Patty Loveless, Mark Chesnutt, Vince Gill and George Strait. Outside mainstream country, he is also recognised in bluegrass and jamband circles.

Lauderdale records two albums with Ralph Stanley, the bluegrass singer and banjo player, and one album with Donna the Buffalo. He also works with Robert Hunter, the Grateful Dead lyricist, on Headed for the Hills, which appears on Dualtone Records.

He is also associated with The Sugarcanes.
