Jim Fox

Jim Fox is an American composer and experimental electronic musician, born in 1953 in the United States. He is the founder and director of the recording label Cold Blue.

His music often uses small and unusual combinations of instruments. One example given is The City the Wind Swept Away, which is scored for piano, solo strings, two trombones and two bass trombones. His compositions are described as slow-moving, with tension created through unpredictable change within a largely repetitive style.

Fox studies composition with Phil Winsor at DePaul University in Chicago, then continues postgraduate composition study with Barney Childs. He also teaches electronic music, orchestration and acoustics at the University of Redlands.
