Jessie Buckley
Jessie Buckley is an Irish singer and actress from Killarney, Ireland. She begins her career in 2008 as a contestant on the BBC talent show I’d Do Anything, which looks for a new lead to play Nancy in the 2009 West End revival of Oliver!. She finishes second behind Jodie Prenger.
Stage and screen work
After the television competition, Buckley joins the cast of A Little Night Music, first appearing at the Menier Chocolate Factory in Southwark and later transferring with the production to the Garrick Theatre in the West End for a short run in 2009. In 2021, she plays Sally Bowles in a West End revival of Cabaret and wins the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for the role.
Music
Buckley also sings on the soundtrack for the musical film Wild Rose, which earns her a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She releases the collaborative album For All Our Days That Tear the Heart with Bernard Butler in 2022.
