Jesse Dayton

Jesse Dayton is a country and Americana musician from Beaumont, Texas. He performs regularly in Texas and, when possible, elsewhere in the world. Born in 1966, he works as a solo artist and also plays in the Road Kings and Texas Headhunters.

Career

Dayton’s first album, Raisin' Cane, appears in 1995 and features backing from Texas musicians Doug Sahm and Flaco Jimenez. It is released on Willie Nelson’s Justice label. In 2001 he releases Hey! Nash Vegas on his own Stag Records label; the album includes contributions from Johnny Gimble, the Dixie Chicks and Jim Lauderdale.

He also records with other artists, including the Supersuckers, Ray Price, Waylon Jennings and Tenderloin. He makes three albums with his rockabilly group the Road Kings. In 2005, Rob Zombie asks him to create music under the name Banjo & Sullivan for the soundtrack to The Devil’s Rejects.

Dayton’s touring and recording career crosses country, rockabilly and Americana. He tours with acts including George Strait, Mike Ness and Joe Strummer. He also sets up regular weekend residencies at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for events such as Nascar Week, Bike Week and the National Rodeo Finals.

Other releases

Dayton releases several more solo albums, and in 2008 issues Holdin' Our Own on Stag, a duet album with Brennen Leigh in the style of George Jones and Tammy Wynette.
