Background

McAllister grows up in Devon and begins performing on the pub folk circuit in Plymouth. She later studies at Exeter University, where she sings and writes with a reggae band for three years before leaving to focus on music and parenthood. After the birth of her son, Alfred, she returns to songwriting with a deeper focus on personal experience.

Recording and releases

Her debut EP, Painted Faces, is released in 2013. The release attracts radio play, podcast attention and online support, and its opening track, Take A Walk, is played on BBC 6 Music. The material combines sensual piano writing and delicate vocal harmonies with layered acoustic and percussive production.
