jerkcurb

Jerkcurb is the solo project of Jacob Read, a London artist who has spent much of his life between East Dulwich and Peckham. He is also associated with Horsey, a four-piece group whose music sits between weirdo rock and melodic noise band territory.

Career

Jerkcurb begins in late 2012 and develops gradually through live performances and intermittent releases. The project builds a distinct following over time, with each new track, video and show adding to its reputation. Read performs as a consistent presence in London’s music scene.

Style and releases

The Jerkcurb sound features shimmering guitars, restrained drum patterns and lyrics that use oblique, sometimes surreal images of longing and remembered loss. Material such as Night On Earth and the debut album Air Con Eden shows the project moving toward a more mature and recognisable style.
