Jerk

Jerk is an Australian industrial metal and nu metal group from Sydney. The lineup comprises Johnathan Devoy on vocals, Lamar Lowder on drums, Charles Cilia on guitar and Leeno Dee on bass; the verified membership list also includes Mario Spate. The band is active from 1998 to 2006.

Early releases and live activity

The group releases a self-titled six-track EP in 2001. That release leads to an appearance at the long-running Metal For the Brain festival in Canberra in the same year. The band later withdraws from a planned return to the festival. In April 2002, Jerk signs to Sony Records.

Debut album and promotion

Jerk's first full-length album, When Pure Is Defiled, appears in 2003. The band produces videos for "I Hate People Like That", "Just What You Need" and "My Friends All Lie". These clips receive heavy rotation on Channel V, and the band also performs live on the station. In 2003, Jerk tours nationally to promote the album and plays support slots for Marilyn Manson, Insane Clown Posse, Killing Joke and Disturbed on the Sydney leg of their Australian tours.

Games and later work

The track "Sucked In" appears on the soundtracks of NHL 2004 and Need for Speed: Underground, giving the band its first exposure to the North American market. After the group breaks up, Johnathan Devoy, Charles Cilia and Leeno Dee form Ink with Zotty Cilia on drums and Brendan Marcii Ebens on guitars. Ink moves away from Jerk's industrial sound and releases an EP and the studio album Black Water Reign.
