Jeremy McComb
Jeremy McComb is a US country artist from Post Falls, Idaho, and was born in 1981. He is associated with country and americana, and builds his work around songwriting as well as performing.
Early life and career path
He grows up in Eastern Washington near the Idaho border and is exposed to live music through his father, who performs in local bars. McComb later works at a Spokane radio station, where he moves quickly from afternoon DJ to music director. At 23, while working there, he meets Larry the Cable Guy and is asked to join the road as tour manager.
Recording career
McComb signs with Parallel Records and later has management and record support from JP Williams. His debut album, My Side of Town, produces three charting singles: “This Town Needs a Bar,” “Cold,” and “Wagon Wheel.” The songs receive video play on CMT and GAC.
After that release, he focuses more fully on songwriting and continues performing and touring across the United States. He also reaches the top spot on MySpace for an unsigned country artist.
Songwriting and collaborations
McComb begins writing songs as a teenager and later places renewed emphasis on the craft. He co-writes with Bart Allmand, Rick Huckaby, Jonathan Singleton and Kevin Kadish. Songs such as “Easy As Breathin’,” co-written with Kadish, and “Cherry Chapstick” reflect a more focused approach in his later material.
Film and soundtrack work
Several of his original songs appear in film projects. These include the theme songs for Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again and Blue Collar One More For The Road, two songs on the Health Inspector soundtrack, and the closing song for Bait Shop, which stars Billy Ray Cyrus and Bill Engvall. His songs appear on projects with combined sales of more than six million copies.
Later work
McComb prepares a second album after describing a period of concentrated songwriting. He also appears in Big Country Blues, a webisode series created by Brian Ross, which follows a fictional young country artist from Kentucky trying out for an American Idol-style competition.
