Jenny Biddle

Jenny Biddle is an Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose work spans folk, blues, rock and piano-based songs. She is known for guitar playing and piano, and she sings with a soulful voice. Her songs are described as combining melody-driven writing with direct, understated lyrics.

Background and style

Biddle composes from the age of ten and is Sydney-born. She draws on a wide set of influences, including The Waifs, Silverchair, Cold Chisel and Missy Higgins, and is compared with Melissa Etheridge, Missy Higgins and Ani DiFranco. Her performances move between folk, blues, rock and reflective material.

Releases and performances

She releases the live album Almost Live at the Basement and the single Our Darkest Day, which is written in response to the victims of the Victorian bushfires. She also supports Cotton, Keays & Morris at Lizottes in Kincumber.

Awards

Biddle wins the 2009 Port Fairy Folk Festival Just Guitars: Best Artist Award. At school, she wins numerous music awards and ends her school years with performances at several charity eisteddfods after achieving a top HSC school result.
