Jenna Reid is a Scottish fiddler from Shetland in the United Kingdom, rooted in the islands’ fiddle tradition. She begins learning the fiddle at the age of nine, first being taught by the late Dr Tom Anderson. When school-based fiddle tuition becomes available, she studies with the late Willie Hunter and remains under his direction until the age of 13.
As a young player, she becomes a regular prize-winner in the Shetlands Young Fiddler of the Year Competition. By the age of 14, she wins both the intermediate and open sections of the annual contest. After leaving school, she studies for a BA in Traditional Scottish Music at the Royal Academy of Music & Drama in Glasgow.
Alongside fiddle, she also plays piano and piano accordion, and she is introduced to singing while studying. She performs with Filska and Dòchas, and is also a member of RANT and Blazin’ Fiddles.
