Jenifa Mayanja

Jenifa Mayanja is a Ugandan-born DJ and producer associated with underground deep house and electronic music. She builds her reputation in New York’s club scene, first through work as a music buyer at Dancetracks, the now closed record store, and later as one of the most in-demand DJs in the city. She plays the Body and Soul party on multiple occasions and develops a profile in the local deep house community over many years.

DJ work and parties

Mayanja creates and runs her own parties, using them as a place to present an eclectic approach to DJing. One of these, Bu-mako, becomes the starting point for other creative projects. Her work is closely linked to the underground house circuit and to her own events rather than to a mainstream commercial club profile.

Record label and radio

She runs the imprint Bu-mako Recordings, which releases her musical productions. She also presents a radio show called The Bumako Experience on MotionFM, where she DJs on Fridays.
