Jedward

Jedward are an Irish pop duo from Dublin, made up of identical twins John Paul Henry Daniel Richard Grimes and Edward Peter Anthony Kevin Patrick Grimes. Active since 2009, they perform as John & Edward and are known for their blonde quiffs and highly theatrical stage style. They are signed to PlanetJedward.

Career

The duo rises to prominence in the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009. In 2010 they release their debut single, “Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)”, a collaboration with Vanilla Ice, which reaches number one in Ireland and number two in the UK. Their second single is a cover of Blink-182’s “All the Small Things”. Later in 2010 they release their debut album, Planet Jedward, which reaches number one in the Irish Album Chart and number 17 in the UK Album Chart and is certified platinum in Ireland.

Jedward tour extensively and appear on television shows in several countries. They record four albums in total: Planet Jedward, which consists of covers; Victory and Young Love, which feature original songs written for them; and Voice of a Rebel, which contains songs written and produced by John and Edward themselves.

Eurovision

In 2011, Jedward represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf with “Lipstick” and finish eighth, placing ahead of entries from the United Kingdom and Germany. They return to the contest the following year with “Waterline” in Baku, Azerbaijan, qualify from the semi-final and finish 19th in the grand final.
