JayJay

JayJay is a German rapper from Neuss, born in 1986. He grows up in Amsterdam Zuidoost with his mother and two brothers, and is known in the Amsterdam rap scene under the name Jay Jay. The name Jason Leonara is given as his birth name.

He is active in hip hop, rap, electro rap and electronic-influenced rap. In his early years he is involved with youth street culture in Amsterdam Zuidoost and later joins the Hopi Boy’s, a group that attracts media attention and is the subject of an AT5 documentary.

His introduction to rap comes through friends, who bring him into contact with TMG/Quan Music. Badboy Taya takes him there for a test recording on the track “Quan Blood”. Björn Sno and Bobby Chamman, who run TMG/Quan Music, recognise his talent and place him under the guidance of Green Gang founder FI.

By 2007 he is working on several mixtape tracks and appears on “Quan Blood”, “Zwaar Game” and “Jay Jay is mijn naam”.
