Jasper James

Jasper James is a solo artist from Las Vegas who moves to New York City. She works across rap, rock, house, hip hop and dance. She releases her debut album, Viibrator, on Crispin Thump in 2008. The opening track, “It’s On”, later appears in a national Kia Motors commercial tied to the NBA 2009/2010 season.

Career

James is a CMJ and SXSW alumnus. She opens for Debbie Harry, Peaches, DJ Johnny Juice of Public Enemy and Leighton Meester. She also appears in John Cameron Mitchell’s film Shortbus, with her song “This House” included on the soundtrack and noted as a major highlight there.

Her single “ROCKET” appears on Crispin Thump in 2009. The video for the song receives an exclusive MTV premiere, is reviewed by MTV and is later picked up for full distribution by LOGO Television.

Awards and recognition

James is nominated in three categories at the 2009 OUTmusic Awards and is scheduled to perform at the ceremony in New York in December.
