Jason Manford is an English comedian, writer, actor and television presenter from Salford, United Kingdom. He begins his comedy career in 1999 after stepping in for an absent performer while working in a comedy club collecting glasses. At the time he is 17, and the impromptu set leads to his first professional appearances.

After six gigs, he wins The City Life North West Comedian of the Year. He also hosts a breakfast show on Xfm Manchester until May 2008, and in June 2007 he takes over from Dave Spikey as a team captain on 8 out of 10 Cats. In August, he presents his own Monday-to-Friday show, Tonightly.

Manford cites Peter Kay as his comedy hero, with Tommy Cooper and Les Dawson among the comics who strongly influence his style.

Career

Manford’s work spans stand-up, television and radio. His early break comes from an on-the-spot stand-up set, and he goes on to establish himself across a range of presenting and panel-show roles.
