Jason Bye is a DJ from the United Kingdom who starts playing in London in 1994, working at local bars and private gatherings before moving to Ibiza in the summer of 1995.

Career in Ibiza, the UK and Australia

After moving to Ibiza, he becomes resident DJ at Cafe Mambo and also plays regularly at Ku, known as Privilege, for Cream and Manumission. During this period he appears alongside DJs including Nicky Holloway, Graham Park, Alfredo, Danny Rampling, Alex P, Brandon Block and Jeremy Healy.

When he returns to the UK the following winter, he becomes resident at Love2Be in Sheffield and plays regularly for Clockwork Orange in London and the Hacienda in Manchester. He then returns to Ibiza and takes a three-year residency at Amnesia as main resident DJ, performing alongside a wide range of internationally known DJs.

In 1999 he moves to Australia, where he becomes main room resident at Home in Sydney. He plays there every Saturday for long sets and also performs widely across Australian cities. His appearances include the Millennium party on Bondi Beach, where he plays to a very large crowd alongside Carl Cox.

International work and radio

Bye goes on to play in many parts of the world, including New York, San Francisco, Miami, Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, Vancouver, Toronto, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne. He also tours Australia with Groove Armada’s live show.

His radio work includes two Radio 1 Essential Mixes and appearances at Radio 1 Ibiza weekender events. He also takes part in Radio 1 New Year’s Eve broadcasts.

Compilations and later residencies

Compilation albums follow, with reviews in DJ Mag and other publications. He mixes releases connected to Amnesia, Space and Home, including a Home London double CD on Sony and Space summer compilations on Warner. He is also rated in DJ Mag for some of these releases, and one compilation is described as compilation of the week in Seven Magazine.

Later, he is resident at We Love at Space for a number of years and continues to hold residencies at venues including Cafe Mambo in Ibiza. He also spends a winter in Ibiza in 1997 to learn music production.

1996

He remains in Ibiza as resident at Cafe Mambo and Amnesia, plays Cream at Amnesia and Up Yer Ronson at Amnesia, and appears at Radio 1 Ibiza weekender events. In the UK he continues at Love2Be and Clockwork Orange.

1997

He is resident at Amnesia in Ibiza, plays Cream at Amnesia, mixes an Amnesia summer compilation and appears again at Radio 1 weekender events.

1998

He remains resident at Amnesia and plays Cream at Amnesia. He mixes another Amnesia summer compilation with Franco Moriaghi and appears at Radio 1 Ibiza weekender events, as well as Radio 1 reunion and New Year’s Eve events in London.

1999

He becomes resident at Home Sydney in Australia, playing seven-hour sets every Saturday for several months. He also performs at the Mobile Home Bondi Beach event for around 20,000 people.

2000 to 2002

He is resident at Home at Space in Ibiza in 2000, tours Australia extensively, and continues to work internationally. In 2001 he plays at venues and events in North and South America, and in 2002 he is resident at Home in London, tours Australia with Groove Armada and mixes a Home London double CD on Sony.

2003 to 2006

He remains active in Sydney and Ibiza, with residencies at Home Sydney, We Love Space at Space and Cafe Mambo. In 2005 he also performs in Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali, Bandung and Jogyakarta.
