Jason & The Scorchers

Jason & The Scorchers are a Nashville-based alt-country and cowpunk group, originally billed as Jason & the Nashville Scorchers. The band forms in Nashville in 1981, with Jason Ringenberg as founder and lead vocalist. Over time the lineup changes several times, but Ringenberg and guitarist Warner E. Hodges remain the constant members for much of the group’s history.

Style and background

The band is associated with alt-country, cowpunk and americana. Their Nashville origin places them within the city’s country music landscape, while their sound also draws on a harder-edged rock approach. The group remains active from 1981 onwards.

Jason & The Scorchers release six albums over their career: Lost & Found, Still Standing, Thunder and Fire, A Blazing Grace, Clear Impetuous Morning and Halcyon Times.
