Jamie Francis is a Brighton-based guitarist, banjo player and singer who has been gigging since the age of 12. He works as a solo performer and also plays banjo in two folk groups, the Sam Kelly Trio and The Changing Room.

Solo work and groups

As a solo artist, Francis performs as a singer and guitarist. Alongside this, he plays banjo in the Sam Kelly Trio and in The Changing Room, adding a folk instrument role to his work on guitar.

Stark

He also fronts Stark, an alt-blues trio. The group appears at festivals across the UK and plays London venues including the 100 Club and Dingwalls. Stark receives airplay on Radio 2, BBC Radio Sussex and several folk and roots stations.

Festival appearances and collaborations

With Sam Kelly, Francis supports Cara Dillon, Sean Lakeman and Kathryn Roberts. He also appears at festivals including Cambridge Folk Festival, Folk East, Folk by the Oak and Towersey Folk Festival.

Reputation

Francis becomes known on the Brighton scene as one of the stronger young guitarists and banjo players, with a career that spans solo work, folk ensembles and a blues trio.
