Jamie Fielding

Jamie Fielding is an Australian pianist, composer and experimental musician. Born in 1960 and dying in 1993, he begins his career in jazz before moving towards electronic music and using a Yamaha DX-7 synthesiser extensively.

Fielding performs with Michael Sheridan’s Slaughter House 3 ensemble and works with other Sydney musicians, including pianist Chris Abrahams. His music also connects to a wider circle of Australian experimental and jazz players.

In 1991 he records Extinkt, an LP made with Guy Maddison on bass and trombone, Sybilla on vocals, Peter Harvey on drums, Jon Evans on tapes, Michael Sheridan on guitar and John Murphy on synth. The CD edition appears after his death on the Dr Jims label.

A triple-CD overview of his work, Notes From The Underground, is compiled by Michael Sheridan and Martin Jackson and released on the Australian Independent Jazz Artist label.
