James Parkin

James Parkin is an independent singer-songwriter based in Hampshire, England. Born in 1975, he performs as a folk-oriented artist whose work centres on acoustic guitar, gentle vocals and intricate picking.

Career

He has been playing guitar and singing in public for 20 years and releases five albums in total, including three under his solo name. His later recordings focus on understated acoustic arrangements and an emotive singing style.

His profile rises after the release of his third solo album, My Cure, which is also his first album of original songs. The record draws on his experiences in 2016, including his battle with cancer and a period of personal uncertainty and relationship changes. After its release, he becomes a prominent supporter of Cancer Research UK and Facial Palsy UK.

Public work

Following My Cure, he appears on the BBC, local radio, in newspapers and at conferences to promote those charities, along with positive thinking and living in the moment as a form of complementary therapy for people affected by cancer and facial palsy.
