James Bay

James Bay is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist from Hitchin, England. He is associated with alternative rock, indie pop, pop and soul, and is also tagged with folk and indie.

Career

Bay is born James Michael Bay in 1990. He builds an early reputation through performances at Communion’s monthly night at Notting Hill Arts Club in London and through support slots with Tom Odell, John Newman and Kodaline.

In 2013, he issues his debut EP, The Dark of the Morning. The following year he releases two more EPs, Let It Go and Hold Back the River. His second studio album, Electric Light, follows in 2018.

Awards and nominations

Bay receives the Brit Awards’ Critics’ Choice award in February 2015. At the 2016 Brit Awards, he is named Best British Male Solo Artist. He also receives three nominations at the 2016 Grammy Awards: Best New Artist, Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song.
