Jahnavi Harrison

Jahnavi Harrison is a UK-based multidisciplinary artist who works across music, dance, writing and visual arts. Raised in a family of English bhakti yogis at Bhaktivedanta Manor in Hertfordshire, she is trained in Western classical violin, Bharatanatyam, Carnatic music, writing and visual arts.

Music and devotional practice

Her work is rooted in bhakti yoga and devotional music. She aims to practise and share the culture of bhakti yoga as taught to her parents by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Since 2009, she has travelled internationally with sacred music groups including Gaura Vani and As Kindred Spirits, and Sita and the Hanumen.

Collaborations and community work

Harrison regularly works with kirtan artists including Krishna Das, Shyam Das, Wah!, Shantala, Jai Uttal and Shiva Rea. She also helps share kirtan with a wide range of Londoners through the Kirtan London project.

Writing and teaching

Alongside her performance work, she writes about bhakti yoga and the arts for publications such as Pulse magazine and Elephant Journal, and on her own blog, The Little Conch. She also offers workshops in mantra music, harmonium and sacred movement.
