Jael, also known as Giovanni Jano, is a Moluccan recording artist, producer, DJ and vocalist from The Hague in the Netherlands. He grows up surrounded by Moluccan folk songs, Moluccan gospel, soul, funk and Japanese funk, and his parents’ interest in funk, soul and R&B shapes his early musical taste. He draws on those influences in a style that moves between soulful R&B and heavy bass future beats, both in his DJ sets and in his production and songwriting.

Career

Jael performs as a DJ, instrumentalist, vocalist and producer, and presents his music across a range of genres. He becomes an official member of the Los Angeles-based Soulection community and label, and is also represented by Studio KOTO, an artist agency, label and management company from Amsterdam.

Releases and collaborations

His debut EP, Time, is released on Studio KOTO in 2018. The EP shows that he produces, records, plays his own instruments, and sings and writes his own material. He also works on projects with SUMIN, Crush and Midas Hutch.
