Jada is an American pop and R&B vocal group from Boston, Massachusetts. The group is known for combining pop, soul, dance and R&B with gospel-influenced harmonies.

Career

Jada signs to Universal Motown in 2006 after being invited by label president Sylvia Rhone. The group works with a wide range of writers and producers, including Toby Gad, RedOne, Akon, Danja, Wyclef Jean, Swizz Beatz, J.R. Rotem, Jordan Omley of The Jam, Wayne Wilkins, Andrew Frampton, Savan Kotecha, Sturken & Rodgers, Ric Poulin and Ryan Tedder. The material from these sessions includes songs such as Is It Love, The Problem With Love, If You Wanna, Hold On, Break Up Song, Play a Playa, Shattered, Can’t Let Go, Denial, Goodbye, Girl Just Do Your Thing, Kiss and Tell and Model That.

The group’s first major-label single is American Cowboy, co-written and produced by Akon and RedOne. A second major-label single, Break Up Song, follows, with writing and production by Wayne Wilkins, Andrew Frampton and Savan Kotecha. Model That also appears on MTV’s The City, and American Cowboy later plays on the Fox series House.

Recognition and appearances

Jada wins Outstanding Pop/R&B Music Act of the Year at the 2008 Boston Music Awards. The group also appears with JoJo at the Ultimate Prom event, performs live on NECN, and tours Top 40 radio stations across the United States while promoting its singles.

Live work and affiliations

The group performs at fairs, festivals, parks, colleges and televised events, and shares stages with artists including The Black Eyed Peas, Ciara, Akon, Sean Kingston, Boyz II Men, Ashanti, Flo Rida, All American Rejects, Plain White T’s, Jesse McCartney, Soulja Boy, Hall and Oates, Susan Tedeschi and The Rascals. It also takes part in tours and events including Simon Mall’s D’Tour Live, the Radio Disney Summer Concert Series and the National Radio Concert Tour Spring/Summer 09.

Jada performs national anthems at Gillette Stadium for the New England Patriots, at Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox, at the TD Garden for the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins, and at Madison Square Garden for the HBO Welterweight Boxing Championship. Other appearances include Teen Vogue and Seventeen events, Disney Pleasure Island, Six Flags, Hershey Park, Hard Rock Cafe, the Day of the Child Concert at Santa Monica Airport, the Boston Nightlife Awards, Boston Music Awards, the Miami Winter Music Conference, the Viper Room, the National Association for Campus Activities and Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Other activity

Jada serves as the first ambassador for Ernie Boch Jr.’s Music Drives Us Foundation and appears as a guest judge at the Hard Rock Cafe Battle of the Bands. The group is managed by Laura Poulin Management and Bristol Entertainment, with Bristol Recording Studios in Boston used as a home base for recording.
