Jackson

Jackson Fourgeaud is a Parisian composer and electronic musician known for work under the name Jackson and His Computer Band. He is associated with IDM, electronica, electro, glitch and French electronic music, and his style is described in the input as a dense, conflicted blend of sounds.

Early releases and label work

He first appears with an acid house debut on Pumpking Records in 1996. He then releases the Sense Juice and Gourmet EPs on Sound Of Barclay under the name Jackson & His Computer Band. These records are noted for combining thumping, filtered house with a sound that differs from the prevailing French Touch style associated with acts such as Daft Punk and Cassius.

Reception and collaborations

The early releases draw attention from music press outlets including NME, I-D and Jockey Slut. As a result, Jackson receives remix commissions from a range of artists, including Femi Kuti, Air, Vanessa Paradis, Freeform Five, and Jean Jacques Perrey and Luke Vibert’s track Moog Acid. No remix of Jackson is mentioned.

DJ work and live performance

He also DJs at club events in London, including venues such as The Social and Harrod’s, and appears at the Territoires Electroniques festival in Aix-en-Provence. A DJ set from him also features on BBC Radio 1’s Breezeblock programme.

Sound and later activity

Jackson is signed to Warp Records. The input also notes that he is working on a live show to accompany the release of Smash.
