Jack Cheshire is an English singer-songwriter and musician from Bath, based in London. Born in 1980, he works across alternative, psychedelic rock, classic rock and folk, and his music develops from minimal lo-fi psych folk into layered art-pop and post-rock.

Career

Cheshire releases a sequence of albums that trace this stylistic shift: Allow it to Come On in 2008, Copenhagen in 2011, Long Mind Hotel in 2013, and Black Light Theatre in 2017. He shares stages with Songhoy Blues and Josh T. Pearson, and performs at Green Man Festival and Kings Place.

Reception

His debut album attracts praise for its lo-fi intensity and for drawing on the singer-songwriter tradition associated with the 1970s, while also being described as inventive and carefully arranged.
