Is Tropical

Is Tropical are an English trio formed in London in 2009. Their music sits across indie, electronic, new rave and lo-fi, and they first appear on Hit Club Records with the debut single “When O’ When” in January 2010, produced by Al Al Al.

Early releases and label activity

After the first single, the band signs to the French music and fashion label Kitsuné. In autumn 2010 they work with Jimmy Robertson on their debut album and then release “South Pacific” in January 2011 as their first single for Kitsuné / Cooperative Music. That release is mixed by LEXXX.

Around this period they tour the UK and Europe as special guests of Klaxons, The Big Pink, Mystery Jets and Good Shoes, and they also co-headline a tour with Egyptian Hip Hop. After Native to and the single “Lies”, they continue touring through Europe, the USA with Crystal Fighters, Japan, South America and the Far East.

Their second album, I’m Leaving, follows in 2013 on Kitsuné / PIAS and is produced by Luke Smith. The lead single “Dancing Anymore” is accompanied by a video made with Megaforce, and the video for “Lover’s Cave” is directed by Richard Kern.
