Iron Altar are a metal group from Edinburgh, Scotland, active since 2015. Formed in 2016, they are described as a progressive sludge metal band. Their sound is associated with death metal, groove metal, metal, progressive metal, stoner metal and thrash metal, and they are also tagged as Scottish, groove metal, sludge and metalcore.
