INJI is the stage name of İnci Gürün, a Turkish singer-songwriter based in Philadelphia. She is active in pop, electropop and dance-influenced music, with hip house also listed among her tags.
Career
Gürün first gains wide attention with the singles “Gaslight” and “Madeline”, both of which go viral on TikTok in 2022. Her debut single, “Gaslight”, is produced by fellow Penn student Alex Graf, who has previously drummed in her jazz project. The track is put together in about a week, using a beat Graf creates in his dorm room, and a TikTok demo helps drive her profile further. The song reaches over 300,000 Spotify streams in under two weeks and reaches creators including Charli D’Amelio and Bella Poarch.
“Madeline” follows with similar success, supported by her appearance on Tidal’s Rising Artist and radio play on BBC Radio 1. She also appears on Samsung’s miniseries Make It With Nile Rodgers, hosted by Nile Rodgers.
Her release “The One” extends her viral profile, and she describes it as “the new single girl anthem”. The track is later remixed by Marc Kinchen and Lee Foss and appears in EFootball ’24. Her song “GOOD TIME GIRL” appears in EA FC 26.
Releases
INJI’s debut EP, LFG, is released via Astralwerks in 2023.
