Ingested

Ingested is a brutal death metal and deathcore group from Manchester, United Kingdom, active since 2002. The band forms around vocalist Jason Evans, guitarist Sean Hynes and drummer Lyn Jeffs, with Josh Davies also listed among the members. Ingested begins in Manchester and becomes known for combining brutal death metal and deathcore with a slamming death metal edge.

Formation and early releases

The group forms in Manchester in the early 2000s and builds its first line-up around Jason Evans, Lyn Jeffs, guitarists Sean Hynes and Sam Yates, and bassist Brad Fuller. Hynes and Jeffs previously play in Annotations of an Autopsy. Ingested signs to Candlelight Records and Siege of Amida Records and releases its debut album, Surpassing the Boundaries of Human Suffering, in 2009. The follow-up, The Surreption, appears in 2011 through Siege of Amida.

Developing catalogue

An EP, Revered by No One, Feared by All, follows in 2013. After signing to Century Media, the band releases its third full-length, The Architect of Extinction, in 2015. Ingested then signs to Unique Leader Records, which issues The Level Above Human in 2018.

Tours and live activity

Ingested tours extensively in Europe and North America. Early appearances include the Bonecrusher Fest tour with The Black Dahlia Murder, Carnifex, 3 Inches of Blood and The Faceless, along with shows alongside Annotations of an Autopsy and Martyr Defiled. Festival appearances include Ghostfest and Extremefest. The band also tours with Origin, Krisiun, Aeon, Alterbeast and Soreption, and later appears on the Summer Slaughter Tour. It supports Cryptopsy, The Black Dahlia Murder and Despised Icon on European, UK and US tours, and plays a full run through Surpassing the Boundaries of Human Suffering on the “Decade Of Human Suffering” tour with Within Destruction, Signs of the Swarm and Distant.

Later albums

Where Only Gods May Tread is released in 2020, and Metal Hammer names it the 44th best metal album of that year. Ingested then releases The Surreption II, a fully re-recorded version of the second album, in 2021. The single “Shadows in Time” appears ahead of Ashes Lie Still, released in 2022, and “Paragon of Purity” precedes The Tide of Death and Fractured Dreams, released in 2024 via Metal Blade Records. By that point, the band has released seven studio albums.

Line-up

Jason Evans handles lead vocals, Sean Hynes plays guitars and backing vocals, and Lyn Jeffs plays drums. Dom Grimard appears on bass in the studio from 2019, while Brad Fuller is an earlier bassist and Sam Yates is a former guitarist and backing vocalist.
