Indigo Children

Indigo Children are a New Delhi-based band associated with indie rock, indie, garage rock and a psychedelic, progressive sound. The group begins as The Superfuzz Bigmuff, with a blues-based, guitar-and-bass-led style shaped by retro rock, punk and new wave influences, and with heavy guitar riffs in a Sabbath-like vein. After winning Indian Campus Rock Idols, they shorten their name to The Superfuzz before later using Indigo Children.

Line-up and style

The current line-up includes original members Sanchal Malhar on guitars and vocals and Nikhil Rufus on bass. Sahil Mendiratta joins on drums, replacing Aditya Seth, and Rahul Sainani later adds guitar as the band works to change its sound and style. The name is inspired by Puscifer.

Activities and recognition

The band wins the Channel [V] Launchpad contest, takes part in Sutasi in Singapore, and records with former Radiohead and Muse producer John Leckie. It also tours the UK and Wales as part of the Soundpad tour in 2009 and plays a series of gigs at Hard Rock Cafe in New York. Their singles include Sing To Me and Traitors And Foolish Friends, which appear on several lists.
