India Arkin

India Arkin is an indie singer-songwriter from Newcastle upon Tyne. She moves to the city to study Fine Art and begins recording music for her solo project during the lockdowns of 2020. Her work sits between her music and fine art practice, and is described through idiosyncratic soundscapes and confessional lyrics.

Early releases and radio support

Arkin releases her debut single, Dashboard Dancing, in 2021. The track receives strong support from BBC Introducing North East and BBC Introducing Tees. Her debut EP, No Innocent Bystander, later appears on Tom Robinson’s Radio 6 Mixtape and leads to a residency at The Sage Gateshead.

Record label and album

In 2022, Arkin becomes the first artist to sign to HMV’s label, 1921 Records. On that label, she releases her album Home Truths.
