IMANU is the electronic music project of Drum & Bass producer Jonathan Kievit, based in Rotterdam and originally from Saint-Denis, Rotterdam. Born in 1998, he starts the project in late 2019 after breaking through in drum and bass as a teenager.

Style and approach

IMANU works across drum and bass, dubstep, EDM, electro house and halftime, and is also associated with neurofunk and jungle. His music focuses on emotional electronic production and does not follow strict genre boundaries, fixed tempo rules or conventional DJ-oriented structures.

Career

Kievit first makes an impression at 16 with a technical, brutalist drum and bass style. Under the IMANU name, he releases music on VISION, Heaven Sent, UKF, mau5trap and DIVIDID. He also remixes tracks by Apashe, TOKiMONSTA and What So Not & Skrillex.

Collaborations

He collaborates with Sleepnet, Mefjus and Buunshin, and his catalogue continues to connect different branches of bass music through a more personal and open approach.
