Iguana Death Cult

Iguana Death Cult is a Dutch garage rock band from Rotterdam, Netherlands. The group forms around singer and guitarist Jeroen Reek, and it begins after he brings together friends from Willemstad: guitarist Tobias Opschoor, bassist Justin Boer and drummer Arjen van Opstal. It starts with garage punk and psychedelic influences, then expands into a broader sound that includes post-punk, krautrock, new wave, soul and disco.

Line-up and development

Jimmy de Kok joins on keyboards in 2019. In 2024, bassist Justin Boer and drummer Arjen van Opstal leave the band. The group is described as a quintet in its earlier phase, and it is also referred to as an alternative rock act with psychobilly punk elements.

Releases

The band releases four studio albums: The First Stirrings of Hideous Insect Life in 2017, Nude Casino in 2019, Echo Palace in 2023 and Guns Out in 2026. Its third album appears on Innovative Leisure in the United States, while the fourth appears on Greenway Records. The band is also associated with Geertruida and is tagged as garage punk, post-punk and punk.
