Igorrr is the project of Gautier Serre, a French composer born in 1984. He works with electronic and acoustic music and is known for combining styles such as breakcore, glitch, baroque, death metal and trip-hop.
Style and approach
His music draws on a wide range of influences, including Meshuggah, Chopin, Cannibal Corpse, Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, Taraf de Haidouks and Aphex Twin. These references are part of a broader sound that moves between extreme metal, classical music, electronic forms and other contrasting genres. Serre describes the project as a space with no restrictions, bringing together listeners and musicians from metal, electronics, classical and baroque backgrounds, as well as gypsy violinists.
Career
Igorrr has been composing music since 2006. Serre develops the work as a continually changing project rather than a fixed formula, and the music evolves across the discography while keeping a recognisable overall character. In recent years, Igorrr also functions as a collective rather than the work of one person alone, which adds intensity to the live presentation.
Releases
He releases Nostril (2010) and Hallelujah (2012) on Ad Noiseam, and Savage Sinusoid (2017) on Metal Blade Records.
