Idle Hands
Idle Hands is a United States group name used by several different acts, including a heavy metal and gothic rock band from Portland, a post-punk band from Minneapolis, a punk band from Münster, a pop punk group from California active from 1999 to 2002, and a blues and stoner rock band from Sheffield. The name also appears in the title The Idle Hands.
Portland heavy metal and gothic rock band
The Portland version of Idle Hands is a heavy metal and gothic rock band featuring members from Spellcaster. It is later known as Unto Others.
Minneapolis post-punk band
Another Idle Hands acts as a post-punk band from Minneapolis. Its sound is linked to punk and post-punk traditions.
Münster punk band
Idle Hands from Münster, Germany plays punk influenced by Descendents and Wipers. This version draws on hardcore and punk rock energy.

The Idle Hands
The Idle Hands is a separate band name associated with post-punk and indie-pop. Its songs include “The 80’s Killed Your Boyfriend,” “Loaded,” “Sunshine on the Tenements,” “Space Thing,” “Damage Control,” and “Secretary.” The music uses danceable punk rhythms, driving electric guitar, occasional picking, synth and keyboard parts, and falsetto melodies alongside a more bashful punk vocal style. The lyrics stay close to punk themes, including drinking, girls and friends. The group is a four-piece led by Meaghan Ball on vocals, with Chris Mohney on drums, Dan Previch on bass and Joe Robb on guitar. Ball has earlier experience in the emo band Copper, while the other members previously play in the hardcore band Suburban Empire. Recordings include the 1999 EP Treaty and the 2000 full-length Building a Desert.
