Ian M Hale is a London-based musician born in South East England in 1982. He grows up in a family with artistic parents and, after living with his mother and sister while moving around the British countryside, attends various primary schools with his sister Alice. Both take part in amateur stage productions and show an early interest in performing arts, while Ian develops a strong focus on music.

His uncle Keith Hale, a touring musician, is a major influence during his upbringing. Through Keith he hears recordings associated with Ginger Baker, Hawkwind and Toyah, which helps shape his creative direction. Alice Hale later studies at the Brit School, records at Peter Gabriel’s Real World studios and continues to perform.

Ian M Hale performs in a range of settings, from small shows such as The David Goo Variety Show in Kings Cross to larger events including The Fire Festival in Bournemouth, where he appears on the main stage alongside Vincent Vincent and The Villians. He also performs overseas at the EMP in Seattle and the Gabriola Folk Festival in British Columbia.

He spends time exploring back catalogues of record labels and occasionally reworks songs by Captain Beefheart, The Magnetic Fields and Todd Rundgren. In 2007 he releases the self-funded Ian M. Hale E.P and later plays with and as part of The BeatRoot-RenDez-Vous. A debut album is planned.
