I Am Legion

I Am Legion is a Europe-based group and a joint project by Noisia and Foreign Beggars. The line-up includes Metropolis, Nik Roos, Martijn van Sonderen, Thijs de Vlieger and Vulgatron. The project combines Dutch electronic production with UK hip hop vocals, and is associated with drum and bass, dubstep, electronic and hip hop.

Collaboration and release

The group records as a side project involving Noisia and the Foreign Beggars rappers Metropolis and Orifice Vulgatron. Its self-titled album appears on Division, OWSLA and Par Excellence. The release reaches the top of the Beatport releases chart within three days.

Style

The project presents a rap-led approach with an electronic edge, rather than dance music with rap added on top. It develops from the members’ different backgrounds in electronic music and hip hop, and the material includes tracks built from Noisia beats. One example is “Choosing For You”, which Metropolis describes as being assembled from two Noisia ideas.

The name also refers to a band from Jönköping in Sweden, with Jonas Blomqvist on vocals, Sam Liti on guitars, Ludvig Johansson on drums and Knut Green on bass.
