Hypothermia

Hypothermia is a Swedish black metal group from Gothenburg, active since 2001. It is formed by Kim Carlsson, who is also involved in Lifelover, Life is Pain, Kyla and Elitmusik, and who owns Insikt Records. The band includes Nachtzeit.

Style and context

Hypothermia is associated with black metal and is also tagged with depressive black metal, suicidal black metal and atmospheric black metal. Its work is rooted in the Swedish underground and the project develops around Carlsson’s wider activity in related bands and labels.

Recordings

The group’s discography includes several demos, splits, EPs and full-length releases. Early demos include Saphien Irretable, Suicide Fixation, Svarta Nyanser av Ljus, and the Självdestruktivitet född av monotona tankegångar series, including parts II, III and IV. Other releases include the split Lead Yourself to Failure with Durthang, Sjuklig intention with Dimhymn, the full-lengths Veins, Köld, Rakbladvalsen, Skogens Hjärta and Svartkonst, and splits with Aska, Svartnar, Arkha Sva, Trist, Grimnir, Regnum, Black Howling and Svarti Loghin. The band also releases Gråtoner as an EP and Kaffe & blod as a demo.
